The Fargo Public Library is excited to launch a new item available to borrow from the library: Playaway Launchpads. Starting today, Monday, Aug. 22, eight of these educational tablets are available to the public to check out. The Launchpads are secure, pre-loaded learning tablets designed specifically for children. Each tablet comes pre-loaded with ad-free learning apps grouped by subject area, theme, and age level. The library has three tablets geared to kids ages 3 to 5 years old; three tablets geared to kids ages 5 to 7 years old; and two tablets for kids ages 8 to 10 years old. An important feature of these devices is that they do not require an internet connection to operate. A Fargo Public Library card is required to check out the tablets.
Currently, the Playaway Launchpads are available at the downtown Main Library. However, library patrons can place holds on the tablets via the library’s catalog and the devices can be sent to the selected branch library for pick-up.
