The Fargo Public Library, in partnership with NDSU’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, invites the public to participate in a five-part series of community book discussions titled “Points of View” to introduce area residents to the library’s Muslim Journeys Collection. The first session is set for Thursday, Feb. 6, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the downtown Main Library. The featured title is In the Country of Men by Hisham Matar. Humanities scholars Dr. Miriam Mara and Dr. Elizabeth Birmingham will lead the informal discussions for this series. All ages are welcome; refreshments will be provided.
The series is set to run five Thursday evenings starting February 6 through April 3, 2014. Other discussion dates and featured titles are:
- February 20 at 6:30 p.m. – Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi
- March 6 at 6:30 p.m. – House of Stone by Anthony Shadid
- March 20 at 6:30 p.m. – Dreams of Trespass by Fatima Mernissi
- April 3 at 6:30 p.m. – Broken Verses by Kamila Shamsie
