Just in time for the new year and your tablet, laptop, or smartphone, the Fargo and West Fargo Public Libraries have added Zinio, a downloadable online magazine service, to their online resource collections. Starting today, library cardholders can download popular full text and photo magazines to their computers and mobile devices for free. Approximately 100 titles are currently available. Popular titles in the collection include Car and Driver, Harvard Business Review, The Economist, Skateboarder, Elle, Runner’s World and Rolling Stone.
To offer this resource, these libraries joined the North Dakota Digital Library Consortium, a group of nine participating North Dakota libraries that share electronic magazine content.
This new service is open to anyone with a Fargo or West Fargo Public Library card, or cardholders from one of the other participating libraries. To get started using Zinio, visit your library’s website: www.fargolibrary.org, and click on “Downloads”, or www.westfargolibrary.org, and click on “Zinio”. Magazines accessed using Zinio are exactly the same as the magazines in print form, plus some issues include added features like video, audio and live links. With Zinio, magazine issues are not checked out so they are always available.
The Fargo Public Library and the West Fargo Public Library also offer free e-books and e-audiobooks for use on popular mobile devices.
For more information about how to access magazines using Zinio or for information on any other digital resource available at the library contact the Fargo Public Library’s Information Desk at (701) 241-1492, or the West Fargo Public Library’s Service Desk at (701) 433-5460.
